Romaro Historical Archive

The Archive collects the structural design work of Eng. Aldo Romaro (active from 1920 to 1970), of the company of the engineers Enzo and Aldo Romaro (1933-1967) and of Eng. Giorgio Romaro (active from 1956 to 2014).

The Archive is an important piece that covers about one hundred years of history of steel structures (from 1921 to 2014), and is crucial to trace the course of steel construction in Italy, and to some extent in Europe as well, from a more specifically technical point of view.
The Archive includes photos, drawings and calculation reports related to structural design, assembly design and construction management of the work
of the engineers Aldo and Giorgio Romaro and the company founded by engineers Enzo and Aldo Romaro.
More than 1,000 projects are conserved in the archive, which are documented with 15,000 drawings on transparencies in A1 and A0 format, 600 calculation reports, sketches, notes and calculations, 10,000 photographs and as many negatives, correspondence with clients and suppliers, and various press review articles.
Moreover, in the Archive there are structural and detailed models, specialized magazines, Proceedings of Conferences in which engineer Giorgio Romaro participated, and more than 100 of his publications related to the projects he carried out.
In 2019, the Archive was declared of particularly important historical interest by the Soprintendenza Archivistica e Bibliografica del Veneto e del Trentino Alto Adige (Archival and Bibliographic Superintendence for Veneto region and Trentino Alto Adige autonomous region).
